Connection, Creativity & Collective Liberation
Therapy can be a deep filtration process—what is it that we want to keep? What needs to be transformed? What needs to find life in a slightly different place, be re-arranged to make space for something else essential? As we work together to create a place to hold all of the complexity, mystery, struggle, love and life we have been given, we can live into openings and creative solutions. May we learn from the nature’s wetlands—natural systems able to exquisitely filter, recharge, transmute the unneeded and unwanted into a rich home for a diversity of beautiful and strange creatures. I believe all of us hold an innate capacity to heal and part of our work is learning to access and trust that system that offers us perspective, guidance and renewal.
I hold our attachment relationships, our nervous system patterning and our compassionate understanding of our own ‘elegant solutions’ at the heart of therapy. I have received advanced training in couples therapy (EFT), trauma, family work, mindfulness, expressive arts and non-ordinary states of conciousness in healing. I have a lot of experience working with people recovering from trauma, couples in distress, major depression, parents working through their own developmental trauma in order to parent more effectively as well as with people wanting more or deeper connection in their relationships. I value holding a relational and depth approach to psychotherapy (respecting the pace and complexity of change) while also holding concrete practicality (are there specific things to try, tools to use). Working sensitively and openly across difference is essential to me and I am continually working to keep growing my capacity in this way. I value working in a contextualized and politicized way, holding our personal experiences as part of a larger fabric of systems and power structures. I believe when we understand ways in which our personalized experiences are in conversation with particular powerful social and political forces, we are able to shake some of it loose personally and contribute to forming new ways collectively. I see our individual healing as an integral and interwoven part of our collective healing and our movement towards creating a more peaceful, just and joyful world.
